Kenny Irwin, Jr., Indiana native, was a home-grown hero through his short racing career. His tragic demise in New Hampshire on July 7, 2000 closed his lifetime history of 134 races. To commemorate his death, the Brickyard 4000 was dedicated to his memory in its 2000 season.
